GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The sales manager will be responsible for lead generation, qualification and solicitation of accounts based on key primary and secondary market segments through personal sales calls, telemarketing, direct mail, electronic media, and tradeshow involvement. As a part of the team, this individual shall also be responsible for sales and business relationship building activities involving local hotels/motels, facilities, city officials, local media, meeting planners, and other related representatives.

The sales manager will have the role to develop and implement an aggressive sales marketing program for hotels and meeting facilities throughout the State of Connecticut for the SMERF Market with a focus on the religious and fraternal markets.

This individual must have a high level of motivation, a team spirit, and excellent time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

SALES MARKET SEGMENT(S): Affinity Markets: SMERF (Social, Military, Religious, Education & Fraternal) and Government

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


-Develop and implement an annual sales action plan for SMERF meetings, conventions & events

-Represent Connecticut at various meetings market-related organizations via membership and at tradeshows such as the Religious Conference Managers Association (RCMA), CONNECT Faith, Fraternal Executives Association (FEA), SGMP (Society of Government Meeting Planners), or others as the budget allows

-Develop and maintain a strong relationship with local hotel & meeting facility managers and administrators

-Develop and maintain contact with local market-specific organizations and associations to increase their awareness and involvement in marketing the facilities of the State of Connecticut

-Contact influential members of event or convention-holding organizations by telephone, e-mail, and/or personal visit on a regular basis

-Develop and generate ongoing leads to area hotels and meetings event facilities on potential events and conventions for the area

-Develop and maintain a computerized database of meeting planner contacts for regional and national organizations, associations, corporations and third parties

-Coordinate all aspects of local bids and invitations to host events and conventions in the various regions of the State of Connecticut

-Host visits of organization representatives on site inspection tours of the hotels, venues and include area attractions, transportation means around the various regions of Connecticut whenever possible

-Make presentations before an organization decision-making body or local chapter whenever possible

-Visit events and conventions when held at hotels / venues in various regions as a courtesy and to provide service to the group whenever necessary

-Conduct annual sales missions in / for the various regions of the State with hotel / venue member partners to develop new clients and maintain relationship in feeder cities

-Participate in host quarterly Member Partner Meetings to review upcoming / ongoing events and lead/ sales opportunity

-Hosts annual sponsored events or FAM tours to develop Connecticut as a premier meetings destination; cooperatively with other members, or organizations (I.e.; CT Office of Tourism, NESCVB, NE CVB Reps, etc.) or as the budget allows.
