Job Description

The GIS Technician is responsible for providing excellentservice to our customers, shareholders and employees by assisting with thecreation and maintenance of the Company distribution mapping and GIS data. TheGIS Technician has primary responsibilities in the following areas: Maintaining,updating and checking distribution mapping GIS data and related details.

The GIS Technician performs a variety of duties. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

• Input of data collected from Engineering staff, superintendents and field service representatives ofas-built infrastructure projects. Assist in response to requests forinformation pertaining to GIS distribution mapping and facilities.
• Successfullycreates and manages GIS data of Company water distribution systems.
• Inputs data associated withsubmitted as-built projects for updating Company distribution systems mapping.
• Adds and populates new attributesin Geodatabase.
• Field locates system assets usingGPS equipment.
• Performs special projects asassigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Qualifications
  
  
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or similar field typically required
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS preferred
  • Must have experience in data base management system software including: ESRI GIS and SDE data structures
  • Must have experience in general office software
