Position, non-exempt (June-September 1)Hours & Schedule: Hours vary
from 9:30am to 6:30pm, Monday to Sunday. Minimum 15 hours per week
with various shift options available. Weekend availability required
(minimum 4 weekend shifts per month).Organizational Values At the

today's fast-paced environment. Overview of Your RoleThe primary
function of the Pool Attendant will be to ensure the safe and
enjoyable use of the pool facilities during the summer season. You
will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized pool
area, enforcing pool rules and regulations, providing excellent
customer service to pool guests, managing patron behavior, and
monitoring the pool for any safety hazards.KEY ROLES (Essential Job
Responsibilities):
- Pool Safety: Maintain a safe pool environment by enforcing pool
rules and regulations, monitoring pool activity, and responding
promptly to any potential safety concerns or emergencies.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer
service to all pool guests, answering questions, providing
assistance, and addressing any concerns or complaints in a timely
manner. Engage with the community youth and serve as a role
model
- Maintenance: Conduct routine pool maintenance tasks, including
cleaning pool decks, arranging pool furniture, and ensuring pool
equipment is in proper working condition. Ensuring the pool is
clean and free of debris. Report any maintenance or repair needs to
the appropriate supervisor.
- Capacity Management: Manage pool guest access. Monitor pool
capacity and enforce occupancy limits to ensure a safe and
enjoyable experience for all guests.
- Front Desk Operations: Manage entrance check-in procedures,
collect and process admission fees, maintain daily attendance
records, and control facility access to ensure authorized entry
only.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation,
including incident reports, daily pool usage logs, and any other
required paperwork as designated by management.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to any
pool-related emergencies, providing first aid, following the pool
safety plan, as needed and contacting emergency services.
- Patron & Behavioral Management: Proactively manage patron
behavior to prevent conflicts, address rule violations with
appropriate interventions, and de-escalate challenging situations
to maintain a positive pool environment for all guests.
- Program Implementation/Assistance: Support aquatic programs and
activities by helping set up equipment, assisting program leaders,
and actively participating in scheduled pool events and
recreational activities.
- Summer Meal Program: Assist with the preparation, service, and
documentation of the Summer Meal Program following NYS guidelines,
proper food handling procedures, and portion control
requirements.
- Safety Education: Promote water safety by educating pool guests
about the rules, proper pool behavior, and posted pool policies and
regulations. Aide WSIs in swim instruction.
- Follow all DOH and BGCCA regulations and policies regarding
pool operations, safety standards, and youth programming.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Work
environment:Outdoor swimming pool facility with exposure to various
weather conditions including heat, sun, and occasional light
rain.Requirements:CREDENTIALS, SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Education
and Experience:
- Must be at least 15 years of age
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (certifications can be
provided through our in-house trainers)
- Previous aquatic or youth development experience preferred, but
not requiredRequired Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to evaluate patrons at aquatics
facilities to determine any potential dangers or hazards
- Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of
the visitors and other staff
- Basic swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water
conditions
- Ability to effectively manage patron behavior and implement
positive discipline techniques
- Experience or willingness to learn program facilitation and
activity leadership
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, including but not
limited to; fingerprinting, child abuse clearance, and sex offender
registry check, as required by BGCCA.Physical Requirements: This
job requires extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting in
an outdoor aquatic setting. The ability to work in varying weather
conditions (heat, sun, light rain) is necessary. Must be able to
