POSITION SUMMARY:
The Peer Research Assistant position provides administrative and
clerical support associated with the CT STAY STRONG program, and to
the UCONN Evaluation Department. This position supports CT STAY
STRONG and its affiliates in a diverse capacity to ensure that it
operates efficiently. This position will represent ABH - and its
services in a positive and professional manner and adhere to ABH's
best practices, guidelines, policies and procedures as established,
promoting ABH - as a leader in behavioral healthcare in all
interactions and work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- While employed by ABH, Inc. the peer research assistant
Position will work directly with, and for, staff in the Uconn
evaluation department.
- Performs all evaluation related responsibilities including but
not limited to: welcoming visitors, answering phones, distributing
mail and faxes, validating parking tickets, scanning and copying
documents, ordering and organizing office and kitchen
supplies;
- Provides and coordinates a wide array of evaluation and
provider relations support services for UCONN, InterCommunity and
CMHA partners as assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and providers in
a professional and respectful manner, promoting positive practices
through communication and mutual education. Customer service
activities may include checking client eligibility, making
referrals, processing requests, and occasionally interacting with
state and community organizations agencies for the CT STAY STRONG
program;
- Provides support/service to providers including orientation and
education of providers and staff on any evaluation policy or
procedure changes and updating programmatic materials as
needed;
- Perform a wide variety of administrative and support tasks,
including, but not limited to, help with recruitment, tracking and
completing study forms while safeguarding confidentiality, fielding
telephone calls, recruitment of study participants & tracking of
study participants, data entry and/or verification, filing of study
paperwork in accordance with approved research standards;
- Travel to provider sites including but not limited to New
Britain, East Hartford, Hartford and Middletown;
- Performs other tasks/responsibilities as required to support
the CT STAY STRONG/ UCONN operations of the departments and of
ABH/DMHAS;
- Maintains/supports internal communications by notifying
supervisors of all the relevant client or program-based
information;
- Attends all required staff, supervision and training
meetings;
- Maintains confidentiality of all client protected health
information and adheres to all HIPAA related policies and
procedures;
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all
activities involving individuals of diverse backgrounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in social science or related field or related
experience preferred.
- Evidence of high organizational skills and ability to manage
one's time.
- State of CT motor vehicle operator's license and possession of
a vehicle for use on the job.
- Attends annual Conflict of Interest training.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not
limited to, copiers, calculators, postage and fax
machines;
- Demonstrated experience of being able to type a minimum of 40
w.p.m.;
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of office administration, planning and
records management;
- Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks
and meet deadlines;
- Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using
Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access,
Outlook), and the internet;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
required.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
