Key Responsibilities:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Senior Structure Engineer, located in Middletown, CT, responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Support flight safety and other root cause investigations.

  • Provide technical recommendations in support of Customer Technical Service (CTS) inquiries.

  • Execute structural analysis of Fan, Low-Pressure Compressor (LPC), and High-Pressure Compressor (HPC) components via hand calculations and finite element analysis, using the latest P&W structural best practices, analytical tools, and engineering judgement.

  • Work closely with all engineering disciplines on the Integrated Product Team (IPT), including Global Services Engineering (GSE), to identify balanced solutions to technical risks.

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and works autonomously to drive timely task execution.

  • Communicate analysis results and recommendations to the IPT, Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), and other internal and external customers.

  • Document analysis results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations to management and customers.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers in the group.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and 5+ years of prior relevant engineering experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years engineering experience.

  • Travel up to 10%.

  • US Citizenship required due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M. Eng. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Ability to propose innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.

  • Strong focus on results with the ability to drive tasks to completion.

  • Proficiency in structural finite element methods

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated success working effectively and independently in a fast-paced, team environment.
