an Am Law 20 firm seeking a Tax Controversy Associate (3–5 years)
to join its highly regarded U.S. & International Tax Group in New
York. This role offers Cravath-scale compensation with
opportunities to exceed scale based on individual performance.
Position Overview This is an exceptional opportunity to join one of
the nation's leading tax practices, representing clients in
complex, high-stakes tax disputes. The team handles all aspects of
tax controversy—from IRS examinations and administrative appeals to
litigation in federal courts. The group regularly advises Fortune
500 companies, financial institutions, and high-net-worth
individuals across industries. Key Responsibilities Represent
clients in tax controversy matters, including IRS audits, appeals,
and litigation Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on
strategic tax planning and dispute resolution Draft briefs,
motions, legal memoranda, and advise on litigation risk Develop
strong working relationships with clients, co-counsel, and
government agencies Qualifications 3–5 years of relevant tax
controversy experience, including administrative proceedings and/or
litigation Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Strong academic background from a top-tier law school LLM in
Taxation preferred, but not required Must be admitted to the New
York Bar or eligible for admission Compensation Cravath-scale
