Location: Newport, RI Required Clearance: Secret Summary/Objective
KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a
team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and
technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis
Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport
RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing
systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range
sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems. Candidates are
highly desired with education and experience in engineering fields.
Essential Functions - Research and analyze system code (C/C++,
JAVA, Python, etc.) designs, specifications, manuals, and other
data to determine Undersea Warfare (USW) Systems readiness for
deployment - Analyze USW systems and software to ensure conformance
with engineering design and performance specifications - Evaluate
the feasibility, design, operation and performance of software for
USW systems - Investigate potential software failures and make
recommendations to ensure safe and effective operation and
deployment, and eliminate or reduce potential of system failures
Required Education and Experience: - Ability to obtain a Secret DoD
clearance - Bachelor's Degree in a computer science, computer
engineering, or a related field - Five (5) years of software
engineering experience - Experience with the U. S. Navy system
engineering or safety engineering procedures - Experience with and
knowledge of military system safety standards including
MIL-STD-882E Preferred Education and Experience: - Engineering
experience specifically with undersea warfare systems and/or Navy
training range systems - NUWC Division Newport specific experience
- Experience with the U. S. Navy Weapon Systems - Experience with
environmental compliance standards and regulations applicable to
military weapon systems Competencies: - Strong communication skills
with the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, to all
levels of the customer and company leadership. - Capable of
effectively working and problem solving in both independent and
team environments. - Proficient with Microsoft Office applications,
specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. - Thoroughness

Type/Expected Hours of Work: The typical workday is eight hours in
length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from
the supervisor. The employee must be available during the "core"
work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours
in a pay period to maintain full-time status. Travel: Up to 10%
