Responsibilities Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within an acute care hospital setting 24-bed unit with high-acuity patients such as CVA, TPA, AAA, MI (diagnostic only), hypertension, overdose, ETOH detox, GI bleed, septic shock, and more Nurse-to-patient ratios: ICU 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity, IMCU 1:3 days and 1:4 nights All rooms equipped with Phillips Intelevue monitors; nurses must interpret rhythm strips All drips are titrated and have experience with vents (Avea in ICU, Bipap in IMCU) and external temporary pacers Epic charting system in use 12-hour night shifts starting at 7pm; four 12-hour shifts per week Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday Float to telemetry or IMCU possible, with ratios up to 1:5 on those units Scrub color requirement is Caribbean blue; black or white shirts allowed under uniform, pants may be black or Caribbean blue Care for very high acuity patients, including homeless, substance abuse, and mental health populations Charge nurse typically does not take patient assignments Support staff includes nurse aides (1:8), monitor techs, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy available 24/7 IV team available 7am-8:30pm, nurse resource support 24/7 Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts Must not have outside employment during assignment No time off (RTO) permitted during the first two weeks; minimal RTO considered after First-time travelers will not be considered for this role Requirements Active CT RN license required Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required Epic EMR experience required Prior travel nurse experience required Ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips Strong customer service, flexibility, empathy, and teamwork skills Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-617263.
