    Summary:

    The primary responsibility for the Clinical Operations/F.A.S.T team (float pool) Manager is to coordinate, expedite and advance the clinical operations and throughput of the inpatient units as well as managerial oversight of the F.A.S.T team, central staffing office, Clinical Resource Nurses and transport. This individual will oversee a diverse group of multidisciplinary specialties to ensure an efficient and exceptional patient experience. The Clinical Operations/FAST teamManager responds to the immediate operational needs of clinical practice, supervising and directing members of the team to further the coordination, clinical care and advancement of care of patients.

    Responsibilities:
    • Directs, delegates and monitors quality of care delivered by the health care team.
    • Functions within and across interdisciplinary teams in a manner that promotes coordination, mutual respect and timely response to the patient's health care needs.
    • Recognizes the impact of systems on health care delivery. Facilitates development of workflows and pathways that ensure the coordination of care across all settings with particular attention to transitional needs.
    • Utilizes a critical thinking approach to problem solve and make decisions.
    • Identifies and evaluates operational clinical needs and resolves concerns in a timely manner.
    • Models and facilitates change within the health care team to respond to emerging practice and organizational needs.
    • Fosters and implements innovative thinking to create alternative solutions
    • Models and promotes health care team building and leadership skills. Applies leadership skills to facilitate effective team functioning and operations of the department.
    • Develops strong collaborative relationships across roles and departments with a focus to ensure timely accesses of emerging needs of patients are addressed.
    • Interview and select candidates who have appropriate clinical skills and professional characteristics to match patient needs.
    • Communicate on an ongoing basis with employees regarding specific performance expectations. Plan and conduct formal performance reviews that are timely, ongoing, and objective, and submit necessary documentation.
    • Responsible for the promotion and termination of employees based on standards of practice, standards of care, and Middlesex Health policies and procedures.
    • Ensure a culture of safety, quality, service excellence, professionalism, personnel development, and team collaboration that supports the Middlesex Mission and the Department of Nursing vision, philosophy and strategic plan.

    • Other job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
      • A Registered Nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and is currently licensed to practice nursing in the state of Connecticut
      • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing
      • Master's Degree (initiated within 1 year, completed within 3 years)
      • 2 years of experience in healthcare leadership role(s) Preferred Qualifications:
        • Masters in Nursing
        • Professional certification in clinical area of specialty (eg. Med-Surg) (within 1 year hire)
        • Professional certification: ANCC Nurse Executive or AONL Nurse Leader (within 2 years hire)
