The Hearst Newspapers Product Development team builds
exceptional product experiences that balance editorial, business,
and end user considerations in service of our mission. Our team
includes engineers, QA, product managers, UX researchers,
designers, and product operations specialists. We are organized
into cross-functional pods supporting end users, internal users,

one another.We are seeking a seasoned, technically adept Director
of Product Management, Platforms to lead critical platform
initiatives within our software development team. You will
spearhead efforts to develop innovative AI-driven capabilities,
integrate new services that connect content, users, and existing
data sources and decisioning services, and create engaging,
scalable platforms and products that enhance our content delivery
and user engagement across multiple products, surfaces, and
properties.Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, editorial,
engineering, UX/design, and business stakeholders to identify,
prioritize, and deliver platform enhancements and product
innovations.
- Collaborate to define the strategic vision, roadmap, and
execution for critical software development to support both
existing digital publishing products and novel products targeted at
new news-adjacent audiences that leverage innovative utility,
discovery, and interactive capabilities, including:
- Transition and rollout to a proprietary, federated CMS,
focusing on metadata hygiene, system performance and data
availability, and integrations with user data and real-time
decisioning algorithms.
- AI-powered content interaction capabilities at scale.
- Flexible, extensible utility and UGC services.
- Geography-enabled data and discovery.
- Act as a thought leader and advocate for AI and advanced
technology adoption throughout the company, proactively identifying
opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and pursuit of bold
ideasQualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a
related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, API-driven architectures, and
microservices.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in product management,
preferably in media, social platforms or other scaled consumer
digital products, with at least 3 years in a senior management or
IC role.
- Demonstrated success managing complex software builds,
implementations or platform transitions.
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, including machine
learning, NLP, generative AI, and their practical applications in
content management and media products.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional product teams to
deliver high-quality products and scalable platforms.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder
management skills, capable of influencing senior executives and
technical teams alike.
- Data-driven mindset with experience establishing meaningful
metrics and KPIs.Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with editorial and content teams, with a
deep appreciation for journalistic standards, publishing workflows,
and content moderation approaches.
- Experience launching novel digital products or interactive
platforms within media, social or content-focused industries.

with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable
estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York.
The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York, is $160,000 -
$180,000 + bonus. Please note this information is specific to those
hired in New York. If this role is open to candidates outside of
New York, the salary range would be aligned to that specific
location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting
salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory
factors, including but not limited to skills and experience,
