SUMMARY
Provides leadership and daily direction to all manufacturing
departments. Ensure compliance to all company policies and
procedures. Responsible for all manufacturing related activities in
the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and cost control.
Establish and maintain a culture of empowerment and continuous
improvement. Establishes and leads plant safety objectives. -
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance to all safety policies and
procedures.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the manufacturing function to
ensure the most effective return on assets
- Interacts regularly with Operations Frontline Leaders and
production employees to provide direction and leadership. Be a
visible presence in manufacturing areas
- Maintains ISO compliant manufacturing records.
- Provides leadership and adequate resources to support site
quality systems.
- Ensures compliance to all site quality policies and
procedures.
- Supports regional quality standard systems for
commercialization, SPC, and preventive and corrective
action.
- Ensures compliance to daily production schedule.
- Conducts daily operations meetings and periodic plant
communications meetings.
- Ensures budget and financial forecasts are developed and
met.
- Partners with the Supply Chain function to ensure timely,
effective and efficient procurement, planning, inventory levels and
delivery of finished goods.
- Partners with the Human Resources function to ensure effective
management of human capital.
- Participates in long term strategic planning involving the
optimum utilization of Berry Global assets and human
resources.
- Maintains leveraged knowledge of current technology and market
trends, participates in the definition of advanced products
required to sustain a cost effective competitive position.
- Responsible for driving the full implementation of cost
improvement programs to consistently maintain a cost competitive
edge in the manufacturing of products.
- Initiates plans and processes to minimize manufacturing costs
through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities,
materials and capital.
- Ensures compliance with all government regulatory
requirements.
- Establishes and maintains a culture of continuous improvement,
quality, high performance and process excellence
- Establishes team and individual accountabilities for problem
solving and cost reduction.
- Ensures effective labor utilization within departments to allow
for maximum return on labor investment.
- Manages spending against budget and in relation to production
volume
- Establishes management practices in department to encourage
employees' positive involvement, with the opportunity for
constructive input and action
- Conducts daily operations meetings and periodic plant
communications meetings.
- Ensures effective communication with all employees.
- Responsible for directing and executing planning process to
drive continuous improvement activities in the department.
- Supports operational excellence effort for the
department
- Responsible for training and development for the
department.
- Directs or supports the effective implementation of investment
projects approved for capacity or facility expansion and
upgrades
- Supervises/manages direct reports (including decision-making
for hiring, promotion and discharge).
- May lead or participate in regional or global projects
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent combination
of experience and education required.
- Six Sigma green or black belt preferred
- 5 years minimum in a leadership role in manufacturing
preferably textiles, extrusion or paper
- Read and write; Understand spreadsheets, charts and technical
manuals; Good phone skills required.
- Ability to convert units of measure; Must have fundamentals of
plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Able to take responsibility for actions and outcomes and
persist despite obstacles; give dedication to the position;
demonstrate dependability in difficult circumstances and show a
sense of urgency about getting results.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to clearly present
information through the spoken or written word; read and interpret
complex information; talk with internal / external customers;
listen well.
- Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting
judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use
reason, even while dealing with emotional topics; review facts and
weigh options.
- Able to act in accordance with established guidelines; follow

information; deal with unresolved situations, frequent change,
delays and unexpected events.
