services.Position Summary:The Director leads and ensures that
nursing care in Adult Residential Services, Adolescent Residential
Services, Mental Health Authority programming, PAS Administration
and Acute Care Detox departments meet current best practices and
optimizes client outcomes. The Director will shape the nursing and
departmental philosophy of substance abuse treatment as it related
to client care, staff development, and resource and judgment
management to optimize client outcomes.Key Accountabilities:
- Identifies evidenced based opportunities for improvement. Leads
regulatory readiness activities and guides staff in ensuring the
correction of deficiencies as needed. Ensures medical documentation
meets regulatory requirements of licensing and third party
agencies
- Develops departmental goals, objectives, policies and
procedures consistent with medical, administrative, legal,
regulatory, and ethical requirements of the health care delivery
system
- Collaborates with members of the medical team regarding
treatment protocols/planning to produce positive client outcomes.
Ensures that interventions and nursing care plans are timely and
accurately documented through chart/record auditing
- Consults on the process and training of supervised
self-administration medication for Rushford programs. Directs
Program Managers on effective methods of tracking current staff
medication certifications, including date of certification and
renewal. Oversees and delegates responsibilities related to annual
on-site observation and biennial re-certification
- Analyzes, identifies and addresses trends in medication errors.
Follows up on critical incidents and provides leadership in system
redesign to promote a culture of safety
- Assesses and identifies staff development opportunities.
Facilitates training and/or educational opportunities to support
staffs professional growth and development goals. Ensures that
direct and indirect reports maintain appropriate levels of
competency-based practice based on patient population
- Prepares budget and ensures that assigned areas operate within
allocated funds. Leads staff members in achieving the goals and
objectives of the department within established budget. Determines
future needs, monitors actual progress and allocates resources to
meet a changing environment
- Oversees implementation of and adherence to Infection
Prevention Policies & Procedures as well as managing the Infection
Control ProgramQualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is required and Master's Degree is preferred.
One degree must be in Nursing
- Current license in good standing to practice as a Registered
Nurse in the State of Connecticut
- Four years plus of progressive management or leadership
experience,
- Ability to assess problems, determine solutions and make
decisions within a timely manner
- Ability to align goals with the strategic goals of the
organization, as well as understand external impacts on internal
strategy
- Familiarity with current best practices in integrated health
delivery and improvement methodology for practice redesign
- The ability to leverage the technical expertise of internal and
external resources while managing competing demands
- Utilize consultation and team approaches on program assessment,
development and management
- The desire to effectively serve vulnerable populations with
respect and dignity
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish
relationships, build networks, and generate resources to meet the
needs of the organization and the community
