Plans, organizes and directs the Commercial Lending team. - Coordinates efforts throughout the Commercial team in conjunction with the Business Banking and Portfolio team Managers. - Responsible for both individually, and collectively as a group, working with Commercial Lenders, Branch Managers, Residential Mortgage Originators and OPIA producers in the Bank's market areas to assist them in achieving Bank sales & business development goals. - - Focus will be on growing market share and ensuring that BankNewport maintains a strong local community presence and sound credit standards regarding loans. - Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent customer relations with the existing client base of the Bank. -Responsible for individual production of loans, deposits and other products and services of the Bank. - Provides support to other areas of the Bank as required or directed by the Chief Commercial & Lending Officer.

  • All managers of BankNewport are expected to support Bankwide efforts designed to understand, measure, monitor, reduce, control and report risk in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Risk management includes but is not limited to compliance risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, market risk, operations risk and systems risk as well as attention to physical building safety and security.
  • In conjunction with risk management, this individual is responsible for the creation, completion, or on-going maintenance of policies and procedures related to the group and is responsible for the continuous review of the group's internal controls and identification of any potential risks to the Bank. - Other responsibilities include:
  • Develops and implements departmental plan of organization. Recruits additional departmental staff as required. - Conducts periodic performance reviews. - Provides training, advice and guidance as needed.
  • Prospects, cultivates and develops new commercial and small business relationships in the Bank's market area through the development of internal and external referral sources and existing COI network. - - - - -
  • Prospects, cultivates and develops new retail/consumer relationships in the Bank's market area and works with Commercial Lenders, Business Development Officers, Branch Managers, CSR's, Residential Loan Originators, and Ocean Point Insurance Agency to cultivate and cross-sell these new relationships.
  • Coordinates sales calls with existing commercial and business clients to assist in meeting business development goals. - Expands existing client relationships through the cross-selling of additional products and services. - -
  • Assists in building strong referral relationships between Commercial Lenders, Business Development Officers, Mortgage Originators, Commercial Lenders, OPIA producers and Branch staff. -
  • Participates in Commercial Lending Huddle and Skill Builder sessions. Continues to develop both the Commercial Lenders and the BDOs by conducting weekly Check-Ins, coaching on joint sales calls and conducting monthly Results Coaching sessions.
  • Promotes the Bank's products and services, occasionally developing or helping develop customer appreciation events, plays an active role in community affairs and maintains a position of high visibility in the Bank's marketplace.
  • Represents the Bank through participation in various community and industry related organizations. -
  • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.

    Directly manages a team of Commercial Lenders.
    Establishes short-range plans and objectives within the scope of Bank-wide policies and goals. - Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and procedures. - Consults with manager regarding policy interpretation or exceptions.
    Bachelors Degree or its equivalent plus a minimum ten years experience in bank related sales, service, and business development endeavors with strong presentation, organization and networking skills. - Formal credit training program. - Excellent analytical, managerial, planning, organizational customer service, communication, negotiation, decision making and problem solving skills. - - -
