Job Description:

The Vice President Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants will have a proven track record in developing and management of successful proposals for corporate, foundation, research, national and international grants. CHC currently manages an extensive portfolio of grants but seeks to extend into new areas, particularly to support our clinical research and development activities. Outstanding writing skills is a must, expertise in preparing NIH-level proposals, technical expertise in extracting and presenting complex data in simple formats, and experience in internet-based literature reviews a must. The Vice President of Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants will also have elements of administration of the department that will be critical to the individuals success.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assumes full responsibility for all activities necessary to generate, maintain, and increase the grant funding revenue of Community Health Center, and thus its ability to achieve its mission of quality, comprehensive health services to those most in need of such services, nation wide.
  • Overseeing, developing and implementing standards, policies and procedures for CHC grants to ensure programs operate efficiently and are in compliance with federal and state laws, as well as industry standards;
  • Responsible for the supervision responsibilities of a team consisting of 2-5 members dedicated to the goals and expectations of the department.
  • Collaborates with supervisor and direct reports to identify development and fund-raising opportunities.
  • Maintains responsibility for monitoring, compliance and reporting requirements of all existing local, state, federal, corporate and foundation grants active as of FY 2018.
  • Investigates, monitors and communicates with direct reports on new and potential sources of grant revenue in support of CHC existing, planned, and contemplated programs.
  • Establishes the timeline and required elements of each proposal, ensuring that all deadlines are met, writing content, and assuming final full preparation and submission of the grant manuscript.
  • Support of direct reports in the production and submission of all final grant applications.
  • Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position CHC ahead of major funding changes or trends
  • Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
  • Must be capable of building intricate relationships with funders, friends, and donors.
  • Writing and analysis expertise - a must.
  • Continual evaluation relative to committed objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of the Grants Management System and ensure that appropriate documents and agreements are created and maintainedQUALIFICATIONS
    • Requires a Master's degree in Public Administration or Business Management; or an equivalent combination of training and considerable experience which will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
    • Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in grants; with at least five (5) years of those years in healthcare related grant administration that demonstrates a high level of understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • Experience must include demonstrated leadership ability, preferably working in a role that includes supporting a team, budgets and multiple functional areas.
    • Prefer prior experience working with multiple levels of government, corporate, philanthropic and foundation grants that focus on a variety of specialty populations.
    • A strong background in and knowledge of federal, state, corporate and nonprofit funding opportunities, policies and procedures, and reporting.
    • An understanding of evaluation protocols
    • Demonstrate team-oriented, collaborative management techniques to lead, motivate and manage teams and priorities in dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively; and Be able to allocate people, time and other resources to create and execute operating or project plans on time and within budget.
    • Must have knowledge of federal, state, and funder regulations including the Uniform Guidance as promulgated by the Federal Office of Management and Budget.
    • Must be a successful leader of people, have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
    • Must be able to decide how to allocate people, time and other resource to create, execute, and accomplish an operating or project plan on time and within budget.
    • Must have solid analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to utilize the appropriate management techniques to plan, organize, control and coordinate activities.
    • Must be able to manage priorities in a dynamic environment and adapt to change quickly and positively.
    • Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed, as well as demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be able to work as a team member with peers, other managers, staff and senior leadership.
    • Must possess good customer service and communications skills, the ability to work with professionals and maintain confidentiality standards.
