Job Description:

Summary of Position: The General Manager is responsible for meeting & exceeding company goals in four main areas: Leadership & Team Development, Operations, Finance, and Marketing. The GM is responsible for the successful operation of the business. Must Enjoy the Ride! Duties & Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development:

  • Build the Crooked Hammock team;
  • Uphold core values and code of ethics in our Team development plan. Reinforce 'How We Roll' throughout the hiring, on-boarding, training, coaching and evaluating for growth process;
  • Be an effective coach, elevate the team for growth; assist team in reaching goals;
  • Conduct orientation, explain the Crooked Hammock Philosophy, and oversee the training of new employees;
  • Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews;
  • Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed as needed, and labor cost objectives are met;
  • Ensure team members have the right tools, knowledge and equipment required to do their jobs safely and effectively;
  • Make employment and termination decisions including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and disciplining brewery personnel, as appropriate, and in accordance with Company policies, rules, and procedures;
  • Oversee and ensure that restaurant policies on employee performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis;
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the industry; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
  • Live the brand and be a brand ambassador. Operations:
    • Oversight of daily operations of the restaurant to ensure that guests are satisfied with their experience;
    • Maintain operations by enforcing policies and standard operating procedures; implementing production, productivity, quality, and guest service standards; determining and implementing system improvements;
    • Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make final decisions on matters of importance to guest service;
    • Maintain guest satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and improving food, beverage, and service offerings; initiating improvements; touching tables and building relationships with patrons;
    • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues;
    • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems;
    • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas;
    • Maintain professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards;
    • Must be ServSafe certified and will uphold all ServSafe guidelines;
    • Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests;
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts;
    • Meets restaurant financial objectives by collaborating with ownership to create forecasts & budgets, analyze and react to performance, analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; establishing and monitoring financial controls; developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue;
    • Create accurate forecasts to guide purchasing and labor management. Oversee purchasing by working with department managers, reviewing and evaluating reports, analyzing variances, and taking corrective actions to meet goals;
    • Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures;
    • Financial management through oversight of COGS, staffing, and spending to optimize profits. Marketing:
      • Support marketing of the business at the unit level and engagement at the brand level;
      • Collaboration with Director and Brand Manager on marketing plan specific to the In-House and Community marketing functions within the restaurant;
      • Coordinate with Unit Level Leader on marketing efforts needing restaurant operations support and promotion;
      • Provide strong presence in local community and high level of community involvement by restaurant and personnel. Position Requirements
        • College degree is preferred. Bachelor of Science degree in hotel/restaurant management is desirable;
        • 5+ years of experience as restaurant leader;
        • Brewery experience a plus;
        • A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative;
        • Excellent leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and motivate a team and maintain a positive workplace culture. Ability to develop and manage productive relationships with staff members;
        • A strong understanding of process controls. Experience with project management and budgeting;
        • Proficient in the following dimensions of restaurant functions: food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports;
        • Eligible to work in the United States;
        • ServSafe certified;
        • Flexibility of schedule to assume responsibilities as needed, ability to balance personal & professional life;
        • Must work nights and weekends;
        • Professional appearance, punctual, reliable;
        • Hospitality soul;
        • Advanced written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills;
        • Well organized;
        • Advanced leadership qualities and a desire to improve;
        • Proficiency in basic computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, Google Docs, internet, POS;
        • Frequently walk and occasionally bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch.
