Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities



  • Obtain Material Review Engineer (MRE) certification through mentoring via OJT (On the Job Training) with a certified MRE and completion of Material Review Board (MRB) classroom training. Certification to be approved by MRE mentor, Engineering Director, Design Chief and MRB Discipline Chief.


  • Develop a clear understanding of P&W MRB procedures to ensure adherence and process compliance.


  • Review and provide technical disposition of hardware non-conformances produced internally at P&W and at supplier manufacturing locations, U.S. and Asia.


  • Ensure product integrity and compliance through technical decision ownership.


  • Maintain P&W quality image to all customers, through evaluation, investigation, analysis and rework/repair process development.


  • Provide credible balance between Manufacturing capabilities and Engineering requirements.


    Basic Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 8+ years prior relevant combined experience in Design, Structures, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering in Aerospace compression systems or hot section hardware, OR


    • Advanced Degree in a related field and 5+ years' experience in Design, Structures, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering in Aerospace compression systems or hot section hardware.


    • Work schedule: Hybrid, Weekend Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.


    • US Citizenship required due to government contracts.


    • Travel up to 5%.


    • Relocation package provided.


      Preferred Qualifications:


      • Demonstrated skill in leading and managing a technical team.


      • Experience in using process control/ six-sigma and or lean manufacturing tools.


      • Strong understanding of production process and ability to make appropriate risk based decisions.


      • Excellent communication skills - Ability to work independently without oversight.


      • Teamwork, respect others and diversity.


      • Solid judgment in decision making.


      • Accurate and diligent problem solving skills.


      • Ability to clearly convey decisions and support them in high pressure situations.
