Job Description:
Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York is hiring a Finance &
Accounting Specialist to support accurate, timely day-to-day
financial operations. This detail-focused role helps ensure strong
internal controls and reliable processes across payroll, accounts
payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support. You will
collaborate with staff and vendors, support compliance, and
contribute to the financial health that powers programs for girls
across Northeastern New York. Day to day, this means:
Responsibilities: Process bi-weekly payroll: validate data, answer
employee questions, and support accurate tax-related reporting for
year-round and seasonal staff Provide backup support for accounts
payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions Receive,
review, code, and enter invoices with proper documentation and high
accuracy Prepare and issue vendor payments (check, ACH, and other
approved methods) Maintain organized vendor files, including W-9s
and related records Reconcile general ledger, AP, and AR accounts
and maintain clear documentation Assist with audit preparation and
ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls
Manage product program collections, document activity in finance
systems and eBudde, and partner with Community Engagement on
complex cases Complete NYS sales tax filings and reconciliations
Document member interactions in Salesforce Support year-end
processes, including W-2s, 1099s, and required filings About You:
The ideal candidate for this role is organized, dependable, and
thrives in structured, deadline-driven work. You communicate well
with staff and vendors, protect confidentiality, and take pride in
getting the details right. Additionally, you should have the
following experience: 3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably
with a payroll system such as Paycom 2 years of accounting
experience (college-level coursework a plus) Proficiency in
Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word Strong attention to
detail and accuracy Excellent verbal and written communication
skills Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as
part of a team Willingness to travel to occasional off-site events
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs The compensation range for this role
