Position Summary:
The Supervisor - Respiratory Services is responsible for leadership
and supervision of clinical oversight for all Sleep Technologists
including but not limited to development of procedures, staff
education and patient care oversight. This supervisor is
responsible for implementation and evaluation of quality
improvement within scope of their clinical practice. This is a
highly responsible program and staff supervisory position
supporting the Sleep Center and PFT Lab.
Other duties and responsibilities:
Assured staff perform patient assessments and make appropriate
recommendations for patient care and therapeutic interventions that
are in accordance with department, location and organization
policies, procedures and protocols.
Assures staff providing clinical services have demonstrated skills
that are commensurate with their documented training, experience
and competence.
Assures new staff receive orientation of sufficient duration and
content relevant to program area(s).
Reviews departmental objectives and assists with the development of
long and short-range goals in conjunction with department
leadership.
Maintains knowledge to deliver sleep diagnostic testing and
treatment procedures to ages 13 and above.
Assures staff participate in relevant in-service education
programs.
Ensures staff and department maintain continual readiness for
regulatory reviews through active participation in system meetings,
activities and assessments as appropriate.
Coordinates training, documentation, implementation and evaluation
of new initiatives, programs and protocols.
Implements and monitors changes in care or practice as
necessary.
Monitors and assists staff in professional and departmental growth
and advancement.
Manages human resource issues in a responsible, respectful,
confidential, and fiscally responsible manner including
recruitment, onboarding, orientation, direction, supervision,
performance evaluation, annual merit, and disciplinary action.
Provides information regarding equipment and staffing needs for
program areas for consideration in the departmental budget.
Develops and provides education in Sleep Center procedures,
protocols and principles to the multi-disciplinary team, other
healthcare professionals, students, patients, families,
administration and/or the general community.
Conducts staff meetings and other communications to effectively
disseminate information, problem-solve situations and provide
education.
Acts as a liaison and resource to other departments as
necessary.
Maintains appropriate knowledge of current regulations, including
but not limited to billing and reimbursements for insurance
payers.
Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to plan,
deliver and evaluate care needs of patients and families.
Actively participates in identified committees and groups as
appointed.
Actively participates in Quality Improvement efforts and committees
as appropriate.
Establishes priorities and serves as a resource for staff related
to Quality Improvement efforts and clinical practice measures.
Coordinates ongoing Quality Improvement projects within the
department, including but not limited to patient satisfaction,
infection control, equipment malfunction problems and chart
audits.

Minimum Qualifications:
Greater than 3 years experience as a Sleep Technician
Completion of a 2 year AMA approved School of Respiratory Therapy
with an Associates' Degree
Progressive supervisory experience or equivalent
Must have a Connecticut license of Respiratory Care
Practitioner
Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory
Therapy
Must have Registry in Polysomnography (CCSH, RPSGT, RST, or
SDS)
Current CPR Card
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors in healthcare related field
Working knowledge of Pulmonary Function Testing
